Priority issues & challenges

1. Road Infrastructure

The N-65 and rural link roads suffer frequent flood damage in the Bolan/Nari catchment, and outlying tehsils like Lehri and Sangan remain poorly connected.

2. Water Crisis

Chronic drinking-water shortage and groundwater depletion, worsened by extreme heat and dependence on the erratic Nari River flow.

3. Health

A single DHQ hospital serves the whole district; rural BHUs/RHCs are understaffed, forcing patients to travel to Quetta for specialist care.

4. Employment

Limited industry beyond agriculture, livestock and government service leaves youth unemployment high and drives out-migration.

5. Environmental Challenges

Extreme summer heat (among the highest recorded in Pakistan), recurring flash floods, and soil salinity threaten agriculture and livability.
